Ankeny Animal & Avian Clinic - Ankeny, IA - Dr. Scott Faulkner

Dr. Scott Faulkner:

Dr. Faulkner carries on a family tradition of veterinary medicine. His father was one of the first veterinarians in the state of Iowa to practice small animal medicine, and Dr. Scott started working for him when he was 12 years old. We are proud to say that this has been a family business for 50 years now.  Doc's wife, Caitlin and daughter Katie are by his side helping to run the practice. He is the general surgeon for the practice, and is proud to have been one of the first in the area to offer laser surgery and laser therapy.  After more than 40 years, he enjoys semi-retired status-though still working several days weekly all year round.

In his off hours, you can find him playing racquetball, playing with his grandchildren, maintaining his acreage, or guiding pheasant hunters with one of his amazing dogs. He and Caitlin have a hobby kennel, Doc's Bird Dogs that raise and sell Llewellin Setters.

Dr. Terri Argotsinger

Dr. Terri Argotsinger is a native Iowan (originally from the NE corner) and spent her undergraduate years at Wartburg College in Waverly, IA.  She graduated from Iowa State University's College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008 and after briefly practicing in the Minneapolis area, she returned to Iowa and has been practicing in the Des Moines area ever since.  Although she loves a challenging surgery or medical case, her favorite type of appointment is the "new puppy/kitten" exam.  She believes it's the best opportunity to set the stage for a long and healthy life with their new family.  When not getting covered in puppy kisses at work, she enjoys spending time reading, baking, camping, and exploring the countryside on her motorcycle.  She has two rabbits at home: Daisy and Luigi.  They are an inquisitive pair and taught her a lot about how much personality rabbits can actually have.
